March is Women’s History Month. As a lifetime teacher, I guess I avoided some of the conflict women have to face in the workplace. I mean, look at the makeup of a school, and you will find a majority of women. 76% of all educators are women. Women are, by nature, caretakers and fixers. So teaching can be a perfect way to engage all those qualities on an every day basis. If you weren’t already aware of the profound needs of students, the pandemic was kind enough 🙄 to remind us all. Schools are, well…classroom, therapy, hospital, cafeteria, library, stage, art studio, gym…and that’s all before 9 am.

As I set out on my journey to developing My Gnome on the Roam, I sought support from the folks I had always been able to reach for in the past; women. Without intention, this company is 100% owned, developed and supported by women. A woman developer built our app, a woman brand consultant helped create the look and feel. Women support our social media, our bookkeeping, and pretty much everything else Gnome-associated.

It’s interesting to own a business as a woman. When I started attending trade shows, it became clear that though many women were salespeople, far fewer were CEOs. And even fewer still, own toy companies. If I knew then what I know now, I’m not sure I would have had the guts to start the journey, but luckily, I didn’t. And so here we are. Ready to launch something new…it is the one most requested item since we launched and there is no more perfect time to launch her into the world….meet Gnaomi.

If you are, or happen to know a perfectionist, I hope you will love her story. Because sometimes, knowing too much at the beginning keeps us from starting, and if we never start, we miss the journey.

You can order her here. 🌈🌈🌈
